AmeriCorps Program Overview
The Citizens
Conservation Corps (CCC) of West Virginia, in partnership with the
National Association of Service and Conservation Corps (NASCC), offers
Education Awards to its eligible Courtesy Patrol participants.
AmeriCorps
Education Awards can be used in many ways, including repayment of
qualified, existing or future student loans; payment of all or part of the cost of
attending a qualified institution of higher education, including certain
vocational programs; and other applicable educational goals.
The amount of the
Education Award is $4,725.00. All service and training hours go
towards accumulating the necessary 1700-hour requirement for the full
time award. On average, award requirements are completed within
twelve (12) months.
The money voucher
worth $4,725.00 may be spent in portions, or in its entirety. The
recipient of this award has seven years after the completion of service
to utilize the award.
AmeriCorps
Education Awards are
provided from a special account in the United States Treasury called the
National Trust Service. The Trust is managed by the Corporation
for National and Community Service (CNCS), the parent organization of
the AmeriCorps program. Education Awards are subject to income taxes in the
year they are used.
AmeriCorps
continues to impact our program participants and the community in many
varied and valuable ways. The CCC is proud to be associated with a
program of this stature.
